ÂConference 2011 in the Carton House Hotel, Maynooth on Friday 9 September attracted a capacity attendance and generated solid information and lively debate on the challenges and opportunities for the Irish agri-food sector.
Â
Our high-powered panel of international speakers and the active participation of delegates from across all areas of the agri-food sector and the wider economy ensured that this year’s conference maintained its reputation as the leading national forum for debate on trends in agriculture and food. It has also attracted substantial national media coverage.
Â
Our sincere thanks to Andrew Langford and his colleagues in FBD, our conference partner again this year, and to our session sponsors, Kerry Group, Glanbia, Goulding, Ulster Bank and the Irish Farmers Journal. We acknowledge also the support of AIB, our conference lunch sponsors, and the many other companies and organisations in the agri-food sector which generously supported the event.Â
Â
Conference Banquet
A total of 250 guests, including the leaders of our farming organisations and the food processing and exporting sectors, attended our conference banquet on Thursday 8 September. Our thanks to the many companies and organisations who sponsored tables and to our ASA member colleagues who attended the event. Our special guest, rugby legend Keith Wood, was in sparkling form in his interview with RTE’s Damien O’Reilly and added greatly to the enjoyment. We are grateful to Aidan Cotter and his colleagues in Bord Bia for again generously sponsoring the conference banquet.
Â
Conference Golf
The conference golf on Thursday 8 September was another successful occasion for our golfing members and their friends. We grateful acknowledge the continuing support of ACC Bank for this important part of our annual gathering.
