Cork Branch Outing
Seamus O’Dowd, Captain of the Cork Branch hosted his outing at Macroom Golf Club on 10 July. Top golfer on the day was Philip Maher with 44 points. Jeremiah Murphy took second prize with 41 points while third and fourth went to Hugh O’Callaghan and Patsy Browne, respectively. Jerry McCarthy took the prize for best gross.
The branch’s autumn outing for the Conor O’Riordon Cup will be held in Bandon Golf Club on 24 October.
The annual Inter-Services outing, sponsored by AIB, will be held at Tullamore Golf Club on 3 September.
Result of ASA Interservices Golf Outing Sponsored by AIB, Tullamore 3 September
This years outing was on the traditional first Thursday of September in Tullamore Golf Club. The weather was very bad, right up to the day before. However the weather dried up on the morning of the event and 82 golfers in 9 teams took to the fairways.
The following teams took part:
Teagasc Galway, Commercials, Teagasc, AIB, Dept. of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, Presidents (Maurice Keane), Vets, ACCBank and Offaly Interservices.
AIB sponsored five team prizes, with the players with the five best cards on the five best teams getting prizes. In addition they sponsored three individual prizes and two nearest the pin prizes.
