ASA International Trip 2019

Washington DC

Washington Capitol Hill

The ASA are delighted to announce that for our International Study Trip 2019 we will be travelling to Washington DC. As the seat of the United States Federal Government, Washington is a very important world political capital.

The city hosts the headquarters of many international organizations, trade unions, non-profit, lobbying groups, and professional associations as well as being home to many museums including the famous Smithsonian. From an agricultural point of view Washington is home to the USDA, the American Farm Bureau Federation, the World Bank, and the World Wildlife Federation, who are working with numerous Agri-companies on sustainability measures.

While in Washington we will be briefed by policy makers and associations on the policy making process; the Farm Bill and the numerous issues currently on the policy makers table; environmental issues, crop insurance; the challenges in protecting farmers; trade and the challenge of labour.
