Managing Director – UK

Managing Director – UK

The Client

An established UK specialist manufacturer of biological products for the agricultural industry is looking to take the business to the next level of growth through a range of new products.

Role Responsibilities

The successful candidate will direct and control the business operations and ensure its mission and financial objectives are met. Strategic information and reporting will be provided to the board as required and agreed.

The new MD will identify and develop markets for products such as:

  • Bacteria
  • Protein Hydrolases
  • Purified Protein

As the focus for this role is on new products, experience with a start-up would be advantageous. Initially this position will almost single-handedly drive development with sales support and other personnel being hired on a business needs basis. The already established part of the business will continue to operate with current personnel and support and is largely self-sustaining requiring little input from the new MD. Once this new appointment is made the existing MD will be moving to other activities within the overall group.

Candidate Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a ten-year plus proven track record in sales/marketing or a broader commercial background within the agri biotechnology sector, or a closely related industry. They will be highly motivated with good people skills and an ability to lead from the front but also happy to engage in close co-operation with the owner of the business as required.

Direct experience in the following indicative product areas would be considered very relevant:

  • Feed Additives
  • Silage Additives
  • Mycotoxin Binders
  • Slurry treatment
  • Seed Dressings
  • Folia Sprays

You will need to demonstrate a technical mindset and will probably have a degree in Business or Commerce; a degree in science or agribusiness also relevant. A competitive salary package will be offered.
