Student Placements – Editorial Department – 2019
The Irish Farmers Journal is offering student placements to undergraduates studying Agricultural Science, as well as students from agricultural backgrounds studying Journalism or related courses.
Six placements are available in 2019, duration 3 months or 6 months, as below (dates flexible):

1 Apr– 30 Jun
1 Jul – 30 Sept
1 Sept – 31 Dec
1 Jan – 30 Jun
1 Jul – 31 Dec
The chosen students will gain a broad range of experience in the editorial departments of the Irish Farmers Journal and Irish Country Living. These are paid placements, based in Bluebell, Dublin 12. Full-time hours.
Essential requirements are:
Agricultural Science undergraduate or Journalism or related course undergraduate with agriculture background
Excellent writing skills
Strong digital skills. Social media, CMS, HTML, audio & video capturing and editing experience an advantage
Ability to generate fresh ideas and work on own initiative
A keen interest in farming and rural affairs
Applicants will be short-listed based on a CV and 400 word cover letter. The cover letter should explain in no more than 400 words why you would like to gain work experience in the Irish Farmers Journal and Irish Country Living and why you are a suitable candidate for this opportunity. Following interviews with short-listed applicants, the final six successful candidates will be selected.
