USDA Under Secretary for Trade & Foreign Agricultural Affairs, Ted McKinney, announced for keynote address at ASA Conference
22nd August 2018: The Agricultural Science Association (ASA) has today announced that the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Under Secretary for Trade and Foreign Agricultural Affairs, Ted McKinney will deliver the keynote address at the annual ASA Conference on September 7th. Mr. McKinney is responsible for the development and implementation of the Department’s trade policy, facilitating foreign market access and promoting opportunities for U.S. agriculture through various trade programs and high-level government negotiations.

Mr. McKinney is playing a central role in the complex negotiations which are underway between the U.S. and a number of its trading partners such as China, Canada, Mexico and Japan. His insights will be invaluable to attendees in understanding the many issues facing the agri-food sector globally.”
Before joining the USDA in 2017, Ted McKinney was appointed by then-Governor Mike Pence to serve as Director of the Indiana State Department of Agriculture. Prior positions included Director of Global Corporate Affairs for Elanco, and Dow AgroSciences where he spent 19 years.
The ASA also announced a number of additional leading international speakers to join the final line-up* for the event which takes place in the Killashee House Hotel, Naas on Friday 7th September, 2018. These include:

The conference entitled ‘From Trade Wars to Consumer Trust, the Challenge for Agri-Food’ will consider the outlook for the agri-food industry, the global opportunity for Irish beef and dairy and the challenge of maintaining consumer trust in a digital age.
The closing address will be delivered by Michael Creed, TD, Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine.

The day-long event will comprise of a number of engaging panel discussions, presentations and interviews featuring prominent agri-industry experts.
