Partners of conference delegates and retired ASA members and their partners have once again Huntington-Castle-with-fountain-300x199theopportunity to participate in what promises to be a very enjoyable and unmissable Conference Tour on Fridaydelta-sensory-gardens-things-to-do-and-see-carlow 13th September in the wider Carlow County areas. Following morning departure from Lyrath Estate, you will travel by luxury coach to the magnificent Huntington Castle ( for a guided tour of the Castle by Alex, who currently resides there with their young family. This is a unique opportunity to experience how the aristocrats live in these extraordinary houses and extensive gardens.
You will then travel north to Carlow for a quality sit-down lunch in a private dining room. In the afternoonBrownshill Dolmen we visit the Delta Sensory Gardens ( for a  guided tour of this rare facility. The gardens and other features have been described as an Oasis of Peace and Tranquiduckettsgrovellity and are at the top of the list by Trip Advisor of places you must see when visiting these parts. Time allowing, with the assistance of a well-known local agriculturalist, we finish the day with a visit to Ducketts Grove  (, taking in the Brownshill Dolmen (a very large megalithic portal tomb) along our way. Duckett’s Grove, once the 18th, 19th and early 20th century home of the Duckett family and is now ruined and owned by the State and declared a Heritage Site. These latter two are amazing and unique entities in their own right.
Tour departure from the Lyrath Hotel, Kilkenny at 9:15am,return to Lyrath Estate at 17:30pm.
