Drystock farmer John Egerton comes from Rosslea in Co Fermanagh. He is a full time farmer running suckler cows and sheep while operating a contract rearing and Blade calves. He is a board member of Agrisearch, Animal Health and Welfare Northern Ireland and the Vaughan Trust.

He is a wparticipant in several research projects including Grasscheck and Arczero (accelerating ruminant carbon towards net zero). In 2018, he won the Grassland farmer of the Year competition in Northern Ireland and in 2019 won the Beef Innovator of the Year award for the whole British Isles.

He is married with three sons who are all interested in farming and is keen to have a succession plan in place to hand over a sustainable business to wthem.
