ASA and IGFA Masterclass in Ruminant Nutrition

The Agricultural Science Association (ASA) and Irish Grain and Feed Association (IGFA) welcome Dr. ir. Wilfried M. van Straalen, PhD, senior researcher and consultant ruminants with the Schothorst Feed Research B.V., Lelystad, The Netherlands.
Wilfried will give presentations on the morning of Wednesday the 28th of January at UCD’s research farm, Lyon Estate. The topics he will cover include:
- Short introduction SFR and Advanced Feed Package for feed mills.
- Advances in ruminant nutrition and physiology using the E-dairy model
- Impact of nutrition on milk production and composition
- Practical rations evaluation using SFR RUMINIX (some diets from Ireland)
The afternoon will be followed by a visit to the dairy and calf facilities in Lyons and cover the dairy herd system, calf rearing and research plus nitrogen and methane mitigation work.
Introduction to Schothorst Feed Research (SFR)
SFR is an independent research company in the nutrition of farm animals (poultry, pigs and dairy cattle). Core activities are raw material evaluation by determining nutrient values, degradation and digestion coefficients.
