ASA seeks ambitious individual for exclusive fellowship programme

Applications now open for innovative annual programme aimed at developing Ireland’s next agri-food thought leader

The Agricultural Science Association (ASA) has launched an exclusive annual Fellowship Programme, sponsored by FBD, which will contribute positively to scientific innovation within the Irish agri-food industry while developing Ireland’s next agri-industry thought leader. The €10,000 ASA Fellowship will assist the successful candidate in further developing their scientific knowledge and experience while enhancing their communications skills in the sharing of scientific information in an engaging and accessible manner to the public.

ASA President, Dr. Anne Marie Butler said “We are looking for an ambitious, energetic and passionate individual who has a genuine interest in making a massive impact within our industry to become the first annual ASA Fellow. The ASA Fellow will be given the opportunity to enhance their existing scientific knowledge by learning from experts around the world, gaining a global outlook on their chosen theme. They will be encouraged to promote and integrate scientific knowledge and data into relatable communications in order to become a strong ambassador for the Irish agri-food industry.”

The ASA is currently seeking applications from individuals who must select one of the following themes for further study:

  • Sustainable Agriculture
  • Soil Science & Carbon Sequestration
  • Food for Health
  • Agriculture & Food Economics

Applicants must be full members of the Agricultural Science Association with a minimum of five years’ experience working in the Irish agri-food industry to apply. Full eligibility criteria and details of the application process can be accessed here.



Applications close on Monday 4th January 2021 and the successful ASA Fellow will be announced at the end of January 2021.
