ASA Banquet
After a quick transformation to both the banquet room and many of the attendees, over 500 delegates attended the drink's reception kindly sponsored by Brett brothers and the main banquet, which was once again kindly sponsored by Bord Bia this year. Vice President Niamh Bambrick acted as MC for the night and welcomed everyone to the banquet. Niamh introduced Minister Martin Hayden as Guest of honour and invited both himself and President Prof. Tommy Boland to the stage. A fantastic meal was enjoyed by all, highlighting the best of Irish food.
Distinguished Member Award
The 2023 ASA distinguished member award, kindly sponsored by AIB was presented to Prof. Frank Crosby. Frank received his award from Donal Whelton from AIB and ASA President Prof. Tommy Boland. Frank thoroughly entertained the crowd with his speech and rolled back the years for many in the room as he told stories of his career and recognized the many people who had contributed to his many successes - making sure to thank everyone he had forgotten.
After Dinner Speakers
The night's entertainment was then completed as Thom Malone, interviewed Graham Rowntree and Denis Leamy of Munster Rugby in the after-dinner speaker slot sponsored by Dole.
The ASA Council
Our ASA Council were of course in attendance alongside the 500 plus delegates for the drinks reception sponsored by Bretts brothers and the main banquet which was again sponsored by Bord Bia. Prof. Tommy Boland spoke to the audience about his year as President.
ASA Office Presentation
Past President George Ramsbottom made a presentation to Office Manager Barbara McGoldrick and ASA intern Roisin Healy on behalf of the ASA Council to mark their contribution to the organisation throughout the year.
