In the eighth of the ASA ‘Experts in their Field’ monthly podcasts, ASA Council Member Úna Sinnott chats with Darragh McCullough, Ear to the Ground presenter, Farming Independent columnist and manager of Elmgrove farm in Co. Meath.

Darragh is known to many of us across the country for a range of reasons. From media roles and flower farming to journalism and his recent award-winning children’s book, Darragh handles a lot seven days a week and in this ASA podcast, he shares his insights about the Irish agricultural industry, his role at home managing Elmgrove farm and recaps over his hopes for the future.

Having graduated from UCD in 1999 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural Science, Darragh’s well-known voice quickly took up a role with RTE. The witty Meath man lives near Ashbourne with his family where his land is split between dairy cows, flowers and tillage crops.

In conversation with Úna, Darragh details his distinguished career and his tremendous achievements including 18 years serving as the longest presenter of RTE One’s Ear to the Ground, time spent writing for the farming Independent and establishing an extremely large floral farming enterprise which now exports flowers across Europe.
