Episode 13: John Tobin & Joseph Keating

Joseph Keating grew up on a family farm in east Galway, studied Animal Science in U.C.D. qualifying in 2007, and now lives in the West Midlands in the UK. Joseph’s career to date has been primarily involved in livestock agriculture in the UK, from initially working for the NFU (National Farmers Union) as a National Livestock Advisor, and then working for the AHDB (Agricultural and Horticultural Development Board) as a Senior Knowledge Exchange Manager and then in 2020 took on a role as an Agriculture Manager with the Co-op (a convenience food retailer, but also provide other services) in the UK with responsibility for Beef, Lamb and Dairy.

In this podcast Joseph details his career to date, recalls some of his memories around the time of the Brexit referendum, speaks about how the Co-op works as a retailing cooperative and shares his views on the challenges and opportunities that may lie ahead for British agriculture
