Experts In Their Field: Michael Miley

Episode 9: Michael Miley

Michael Miley is very well known to many ASA members, he served as President in 2001 and received the ASA Distinguished Members Award in 2014. Michael grew up on a farm in Rahara, Co. Roscommon and went on to study Agricultural Science in UCG and UCD, qualifying in 1972. He was very involved in student life at university as Student Rep in UCG and Auditor of Ag Soc in UCD.

In this podcast, Michael shares his career experiences from the early years in RTE when Ireland was joining the EEC to years spent in ACOT and Teagasc. He spent 3 years as Programme Manager (1994-1997) for Ivan Yates, who was Minister for Agriculture over that period. A stand-out issue during this time was of course the BSE crisis. Finishing his career in Teagasc as PR Manager in 2004, Michael moved out on his own and remains active in the industry today.

ASA thank Michael for his time and wish him and his family continued health & success into the future.
