Experts In Their Field: Paul Brophy

Episode 4: Paul Brophy

In this podcast, Barbara Keatley (ASA Council Member) talks to Paul Brophy from Brophy Produce about his journey of how he got into growing, who influenced him along the way and what he would do different if he was to start again.

The business has grown from 2Ha to 240Ha of mostly broccoli production, which has resulted in Paul being the largest broccoli grower in the country.

Paul is a keen horticulturist, but his heart lies in the nursery. Here he enjoys the controlled environment and the science behind the propagation of the plants. His interest in growing stems back to his years in Warrenstown under the guidance of Brother O’ Hare. To this day, he remains in contact with his mentor who takes a special pride in Paul’s success.

Paul hails from Naas, Co. Kildare where his business is based, there he lives with his wife Catherine and three children Kate, Luke and Anna.

Many Thanks to Paul for giving his time to contribute to our podcast series.
