Beef technical Update Seminar, Factory and Farm tour

Over 50 ASA members attended the recent Technical update seminar, factory and farm tour in the Killeshin Hotel, Portlaoise, Meadow Meats and the farm of Robin & Ann Talbot. The day was very worthwile for members. Excellent presentations by speakers followed by an informative tour of Meadow Meats and visit to the high performing suckler herd of Ballacolla farmer Robin Talbot. UCD Ag. Science Careers Day

ASA was a major contributor to UCD Ag. Science Careers Day held on 14 February. Meetings on Economic and Agri-Food Prospects

Over 120 ASA members attended the second of our three meetings on Economic and Agri-Food Prospects in Horse & Jockey on Friday 10 February. They got a comprehensive presentation on dairy trends and prospects worldwide and on ambitious plans for expenasion from Jim Woulfe, Chief Executive of Dairygold. Economist Colm McCarthy gave a no-holes barred view on the current state of the Irish economy and challneges that lie ahead and Tracy Coyne from Ulster Bank updated us in trends in financial markets, investments and interest rates. All meetings are run in association with our colleagues in the Agricultural Consultants Association (ACA) and sponsored by Ulster Bank.
